I'm not sure what else to do, I can't find a video of this to tell if I am missing something simple. Pressing all three at once and holding for 10 seconds Using the HOLD + A + B buttons Ive tried the following: I quickly found the instructions on getting it working with Live, but have not been able to get Live 9 to see it at all (either in the MIDI inputs or the orange top right corner "MIDI incoming" square). Buy the Native Instruments Traktor Kontrol F1, Z1, X1 Bundle for the best price at The Disc DJ Store. The device does a quick light demonstration when I plug it in (I do not have the A/C adapter but I believe the Z1 can be powered via USB) and then goes black. I just bought Traktor Z1 (ebay) to use with Ableton 9 (I do not own or intend to use the Traktor software itself). Complete, ultra-portable setup for TRAKTOR DJ Pro-quality knobs. That way you can label the keys and wont be so worried about smashing the keys up or pushing your laptop off the stand. Get total control and professional sound in a go-anywhere package its pro on the go. A variation of this is to get a usb computer keyboard. With a simplified workflow, the KONTROL Z1's cue section lets you monitor and mix tracks with pro precision. Traktor also allows keyboard custom mapping but there is a default mapping included. The TRAKTOR KONTROL Z1 is a super-slim, incredibly portable and professional 2-channel DJ mixer, controller, and soundcard for Native Instruments' TRAKTOR DJ and TRAKTOR PRO 3. The KONTROL Z1 features professional-quality 24-bit / 96 kHz converters and a high-output stereo master output. Assign the things you wanted to map to your laptop keyboard: trigger fx or clips can be performed this way in ableton. The TRAKTOR KONTROL Z1 from Native Instruments is a portable two-channel DJ mixing interface for TRAKTOR LE 3, TRAKTOR DJ 2, and TRAKTOR Pro 3. So you wanna make up for lost buttons, what are some good (easy, cheap, reliable) workarounds? Get a midi fighter or dicers or a 25 key midi keyboard (no audio from keybaord). Double especially if it even has just as many knobs and a few buttons. Especially if that sound card has 2 different stereo out channels. I will say that I prefer -based on mobilish performance requirements- to have an audio card than a blank (requires midi mapping and those lights wont light up without a custom script) midi controller. Because each individual has a different goal and style of playing a live set, the term "better" creates an ambiguity that may cause disagreement over purchase options.
